Vilnius in a Plate

A visual and performative project by AUSRA

Vilnius in a plate is an ongoing artistic exploration of food, memory, and shared rituals. Developed during a one-year stay in Lithuania, the project reflects on what we leave behind — on the table, in the air, and in ourselves — after eating together.

Through installations, participatory actions, and evolving visual works, the project brings together French and Lithuanian food traditions, reframed as artistic language. Each piece captures traces of presence, gestures of sharing, and the emotional weight of the everyday.

In collaboration with Go Vilnius and the Vilnius Pink Soup Fest, I invited the public to take part in a collective painting using fresh herbs — a playful and sensorial gesture linking taste to texture, and tradition to expression.

The project also includes a pedagogical collaboration with the Lycée Français de Vilnius, where I work with CP classes around the theme of “constellations of cheeses and desserts”, mixing French and Lithuanian cultural references. These workshops are part of the broader narrative of Vilnius in a plate, engaging younger participants in artistic reflection through food, form, and imagination.

Vilnius in a plate is part of my wider research titled in a plate, which moves through different cities and contexts.

It is not about food itself — but about what it tells us, and what it leaves behind.
